About Parksville Excavating
Parksville Excavating is an excavation contractor working the Oceanside coast from Nanoose Bay to Qualicum Beach and inland through Coombs and Errington. Our work covers land clearing, foundation digs, drainage and driveways on lots and acreages across the 2 incorporated municipalities of Parksville and Qualicum Beach and Electoral Areas E, F and G of the Regional District of Nanaimo.
What we do
We dig. Land clearing and site prep, foundation excavation and backfill, perimeter and site drainage, and driveways and parking pads — those four cover most of what comes through, and they are the work we quote.
We are set up for residential and small commercial jobs: building lots, acreages, shops, additions and the drives and drainage that go with them. If a job needs an engineered design or a survey, that comes from the people qualified to produce it and we build to it.
The person who quotes your job is the person who digs it. Nothing gets lost between the walk and the day the machine turns up, and if you want something changed on site you can say it to the operator rather than ring an office. If a job is not one we can do properly, we will tell you that rather than take it on and work it out later.
Do you work with other local companies?
Yes. Our sister company Parksville Septic Systems installs, repairs, pumps and inspects septic systems in Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Coombs and Nanoose Bay. If your job is the septic side rather than the digging, they're who you want.
How we work
Every job starts with a walk of the property — access, slope, where the services run and where the spoil can go. None of that can be worked out from a plan or over the phone.
Before we book a date, we file the locate and confirm the permit position. On the job, we slope, step back or shore the sides according to what the cut actually exposes, and set spoil back from the edge.
On the day we bring the machine in on the trailer and set up where we agreed on the walk. We keep the working area tidy, we put the spoil where it will not block your access or the forming crew, and we load it out rather than let it sit. When the cut is finished we walk it with you before the machine goes back on the trailer, so you see the depth, the grade and the backfill for yourself rather than taking our word for it.
Where we work
We work the Oceanside coast — the incorporated municipalities of Parksville and Qualicum Beach — plus French Creek and Nanoose Bay, and inland through Coombs, Errington and Hilliers, all within Electoral Areas E, F and G of the Regional District of Nanaimo. We also work in Whiskey Creek, Dashwood, San Pareil and Meadowood.
We keep the whole service area inside a single day's drive, so the trip to bring the machine in stays short and we can be back the next morning if the cut turns up something unexpected.
If your property sits a little outside that, ask us anyway. We would rather tell you straight away that it is too far than string you along, and more often than not we can get to it.
