Serving the Oceanside coast

Where we work on the Oceanside coast

Parksville Excavating works the coastal strip from Nanoose Bay to Qualicum Beach and inland through Coombs and Errington — the 2 incorporated municipalities plus Electoral Areas E, F and G of the Regional District of Nanaimo. The community pages below set out what the ground does in each, because we build a quote for your French Creek lot differently from one for an Errington acreage.

The service area is a single day's reach from Parksville, which keeps the trip to bring the machine in short and means we can be back the following morning if something turns up in the cut.

How the ground changes across the area

Ground conditions aren't the same everywhere here, so what we do on your lot depends on which town you are in. The coastal lots sit on confined Quadra Sand under a till layer. French Creek sits on a small unconfined delta with the water table close under the surface. Inland at Errington, fractured Haslam shale is mapped as the aquifer itself. Nanoose Bay sits on a mixed stack of overburden and bedrock units, with a seasonal swing wide enough to matter to a deep dig.

Areas we serve

  • Qualicum BeachA 30 centimetre tree threshold, a $100 permit fee, and a town supplied entirely from deep wells.
  • Coombs and ErringtonAcreages on fractured shale, with about a fifth of the electoral area inside the Agricultural Land Reserve.
  • French CreekA small unconfined delta aquifer with no confining layer above the water table.
  • Nanoose BayA mixed overburden and bedrock stack with a water table that moves between one and eight metres through the season.

Also working in Hilliers, Whiskey Creek, Dashwood, San Pareil and Meadowood.
